Emerging reports indicate that Kenya Airways is on course to hiring 5 new managers from Poland to help with its turn around. This signals a move by the new CEO Sebastian Mikosz to work with new blood at the national carrier. The said new managers include; Monika Kieltyka-Michna, Edyta Kijewska-Teny, Magdalena Serwach, Marcin Celejewski and Michal Mierciak. The individuals have worked for the Polish National carrier LOT. Mikosz, the new man at Kenya Airways has a robust history of handling turnarounds. “He has experience running a State-owned airline with a fleet size and type as KQ. He has also dealt with serious trade unions in the airline industry and was by far the best candidate,” said Mr. Michael Joseph the Chairman of Kenya Airways when Mikosz was hired. Concerning the new hires Mikosz explained that the new team is part of the restructuring efforts by Kenya Airways and that the individuals are to bolster the Transformation office having accomplished similar turnarounds before. He is said to be a ruthless and well-known cost management hawk. KQ has posted four consecutive full-year losses beginning March 2013 and in the year to March 2016, recorded a net loss of KES 26.2 billion.
