The Association of Consulting Engineers of Kenya (ACEK) has organised training on FIDIC Conditions of Contract in collaboration with International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC). Eng. Kariuki Muchemi who sits at the ACEK council set the training that started on Monday 9th and lasting six days at Maanzoni lodge in motion.

 

The Association of Consulting Engineers of Kenya (ACEK) has organised training on FIDIC Conditions of Contract in collaboration with International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC). Eng. Kariuki Muchemi who sits at the ACEK council set the training that started on Monday 9th and lasting six days at Maanzoni lodge in motion.

The tutor conducting the training is Dr. Goetz-Sebastian Hoek who is highly qualified and experienced in the use of FIDIC Contracts and has been involved in various infrastructure projects in Africa, the Middle East, South East Asia, and Europe.

‘ACEK seeks to be the training organisation of choice and seeks to intensify its training activities.’ Observed Eng. Muchemi welcoming the attending delegates. He also added that the trainings organised by ACEK, which is the local affiliate of FIDIC, would form part of the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) courses encouraged by the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).

FIDIC defends the interest of clients in cross border relationships in particular in international construction field specialising in international litigation. The organisation represents globally the interests of the consulting engineering industry.

The FIDIC Conditions of Contract are increasingly used by the international construction Industry throughout the world. Courses offered have been designed to offer a complete and effective understanding and application of the FIDIC Conditions of Contract and the management of contract claims.

While some modules provide a practical guide to understanding and use of the 1999 FIDIC Conditions of Contract and Multi-lateral Development Banks Harmonized Conditions of Contract, others are designed to help participants have confidence in working with FIDIC documents as project Managers and Contract Administrators.

These practical courses give the delegates a sound understanding on the practical use of the FIDIC Construction (Red Book) & Design-Build (Yellow Book) Contracts. The procedures and application of the Contract clauses are explored & made realistic through extensive work exercises. 

The courses provide the necessary knowledge for, and targets, professionals from Government Ministries and its Agencies, Private Sector Employers, Consulting Engineers, Contractors, Quantity Surveyors and Architects, Legal Advisers in the construction sector, and ALL those involved with the implementation and management of large Works Contracts.
