The Government of Kenya has received financing form the World Bank towards the cost of the Water and Sanitation Services Improvement Project – Additional Financing and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consulting services.
The consulting (“the services”) include:
a) Fulfilling the rile of Engineers Representatives in the Supervision of the construction works
b) Provision of a detailed review of the design investigations, the design assumptions and calculations and the design records, together with the contract documents, such that the consultant shall be fully conversant with the design and the contract documents, all prior to construction commencing; and
c) Supervision, in accordance with the conditions of contract, specifications and drawings, works carried out by the selected contractor
The envisaged works to be supervised include:
i) 4000m3/day Treatment works at Theta consisting of 4 flocculation tanks, 4 units of sedimentation basins, 4 rapid sand filter units, chemicals building, chlorination building, Utility Building 48 cubic meters steel elevated pressed steel backwash tank, backwash pump house and installation of backwash pumping units, and 150 cubic meters masonry clear water tank;
ii) Ancillary works at the treatment works consisting of power mains supply. Staff house building, access roads, street lighting, and site drainage and site water supply.
iii) Approximately 21km of DN 200 – 350mm uPVC, treated water transmission pipeline
The period of implementation for the services is 12 months.
The Athi Water Services Board now invites eligible consulting firms (“Consultants”) to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested consultant should provide information demonstrating that they have the required qualifications and relevant experience to perform the services. The short listing criteria are:
i) Experience in design of at least one water supply and treatment works contract
ii) Experience in supervision of at least one water supply project
iii) Experience in similar conditions i.e. in a developing country
The Athi Water Services Board now invites eligible consulting firms “(Consultants)” to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested consultants should provide information demonstrating that they have the required qualifications and relevant experience to perform the services. The short listing criteria are:
i) Experience in design a=of at least one water supply and treatment works contract
ii) Experience in supervision of at least one water supply project
iii) Experience in similar conditions i.e. in developing country
iv) Availability of appropriate skilled staff including water engineer, structural engineer an environmentalist, a surveyor and a land economist.
The attention of interested consultant is drawn to paragraph 1.9 of the World Banks Guidelines Selection and Employment of Consultants (under IBRD Loans and Ida Credits & Grants) by World Bank Borrowers January 2011 (“Consultant Guidelines”), setting forth the World Bank’s Policy on conflict of interest.
Consultant may associate with other firms in the form of a joint venture or a sub consultancy to enhance their qualifications.
A consult will be selected in accordance with the QCBS method set out in the Consultant Guidelines.
