Contract Title:    Construction of Storm Water Drainage Systems in Nairobi

The Republic of Kenya has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Nairobi Metropolitan Services Improvement Project (NaMSIP),and intends to apply part of the proceeds toward payments under the contract for Construction of Storm Water Drainage Systems in Nairobi Metropolitan Region

The Ministry of Land, Housing and Urban Development (Directorate of Nairobi Metropolitan Development) now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for Construction of Stormwater Drainage Systems in Nairobi Metropolitan Region (Nairobi CBD, Langata, Dagoretti, Embakasi, Thika CBD, Ongata Rongai, Athi River town) to be completed within a period of I year and 6 months (18 months).The Bidder should have contracts completed and under implementation as prime contractor, joint venture member, management contractor or sub-contractor within the last 5 years, with a minimum construction experience in the following key activities successfully completed:

Bulk earthworks of 35,000m3 per month;

Concrete works of 3400m3/month;

Pipework greater than DN600mm at 4 km per month

Bidding will be conducted through the International Competitive Bidding (ICB) procedures as specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement of Goods, Works and Non-Consulting Services under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits & Grants, January 2011 (“Procurement Guidelines”), and is open to all eligible bidders as defined in the Procurement Guidelines. In addition, please refer to paragraphs 1.6 and 1.7 setting forth the World Bank’s policy on conflict of interest

Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from Ministry of Land, Housing and Urban Development (info@nairobimetro.go.ke ) and inspect the bidding documents during office hours (i.e. 0800 to 1700 hours) at the address given below. A pre-bid meeting will be held on Wednesday, 3rd June 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the address below.

A complete set of bidding documents in English Language may be purchased by interested eligible bidders upon the submission of a written application to The Principal Secretary, Ministry of Land, Housing and Urban Development, Nairobi Metropolitan Development KICC Building, Harambee Avenue, 25th Floor, Room 2520, Nairobi, Kenya and upon payment of a nonrefundable fee of KES 1,000 (Kenya Shillings One Thousand). The payment shall be made by cash or bank cheque.

Bids must be delivered to the address below on or before Friday, 26th June 2015 at 12:00 noon Kenyan time. Electronic bidding will not be permitted. Late bids will be rejected. Bids will be publicly opened in the presence of the bidders’ designated representatives and anyone who choose to attend at the address below on Friday, 26th June 2015 at 12:05 p.m. Kenyan time.

All bids must be accompanied by a Bid Security of KES 15,000,000 (Kenya Shillings Fifteen Million) or equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency. The address(es) referred to above is(are):
