CONSTRUCTION TO BITUMEN STANDARD OF LIMO HOSPITAL – ILLULA – ELGEYO BORDER -KAPKOI ROAD (D296) IN UASIN GISHU AND ELGEYO MARAKWET COUNTIES
INVITATION TO TENDER THROUGH DESIGN, BUILD AND MAINTAIN APPROACH
Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) hereby invites tenders, on behalf of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure from eligible entities to Design, Build and maintain the above road.
Location of the Proposed Project
The road is 25km and links Eldoret town, lllula, Elgeyo Border and Kapkoi Townships in Uasin Gishu and Elgeyo Marakwet Counties.
Scope of works
The detailed scope of works is contained in the bid document for the road and includes the following:
Carrying out environmental and social impact study and detailed engineering design of the road.
Construction of the road to bitumen standard complete with two single span bridges and other drainage structures.
Qualification for Tendering
The requirements for bidding are as follows:
Certified copies of Certificate of Registration/Incorporation
Registration with the NCA in category NCA 2 and above for Contractors
The Consultant must be registered as such with the Engineer’s Board of Kenya
A copy of Consortia Joint Venture (JV) Agreement
For local JV/Consortium Partners, all partners individually to provide valid
VAT Registration/PIN
Tax Compliance Certificate
Registration by the relevant regulatory authority for foreign JVs equivalent of above shall be required.
Thresholds specified in the Bid Document covering the following for the Consortia
Similar previous experience
Equipment holding
Professional and Technical Personnel
Turnover and liquid assets supported by Audited Accounts for the previous five (5) consecutive years
Current work load
Litigation history
Tenderers will be expected to propose completion dates but should not be more than two years.
Procurement shall be based on the post qualification method and the above details will be submitted with the priced bid. Bid Documents for Design-Build and Maintain will be available from the Procurement Manager, Kenya Rural Roads Authority offices on 5th floor, Blue Shield Towers, Hospital Road from 29th September, 2014 upon payment of a non-refundable fee of Kshs. 1,000 (One Thousand Only) by banker’s cheque against an official receipt of the Authority. .
Bidders shall converge at the KeRRA Regional Office in Eldoret on 6th October, 2014 at 10.00 a.m for the mandatory pre-tender site visit and meeting.

Opening of the bids will take place beginning 11:15am at the conference room. Blue Shield Towers, 6th Floor, on the same day and in the presence of Tenderer’s Representatives who wish to attend.
