The country will on 9th September host an Energy Day to share detailed information on diverse investment opportunities in the energy sector. The event to be held at the Kenyatta International Conference Center (KICC) is themed “5000+ Megawatts for transforming Kenya”.

“This is an ambitious programme where we intend to provide reliable, sufficient and competitive energy for fast socio-economic transformation for our country”, says the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum.

The ministry intends to generate competitively-priced power that will facilitate Kenya to attract new industrial investors while safeguarding the interests of existing and potential investors.

Kenya has an existing framework for Independent Power Producers (IPPs) with seven existing firms. Another five firms are in the implementation stage.”We wish to significantly open power generation to provide investors guided by already developed power matrix”, say the ministry in a statement.

The event attracts potential investors in the power sector as well as active firms in various blocks.
