Eng. Silas Kinoti is the new acting Director General of Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA).  He takes over from Eng. Peter Mundinia who has recently been appointed as Director General, Kenya National Highways Authority. Previously, Eng. Kinoti was the General Manager Planning & Environment since April 2010. He previously served the Authority as a Manager Planning. Prior to that, he was the Municipal Engineer and Municipal Roads Engineer for Municipal Council of Meru and Mombasa respectively.

He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, is a certified ISO 9001:2008 Lead Auditor and has been trained on Corporate Governance and Organizational Development, Strategic Negotiation Skills, Innovations in Road Management and Financing, Urban Mobility and Non-Motorized Transport Systems, Project Development and Management as well as Public Private Partnership (PPP) Contract Management.Currently, Eng. Kinoti is pursuing an MBA in Corporate Management. He is a Registered Engineer with Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) and a Corporate Member of Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK).

At the helm of the Authority, Eng. Kinoti will be tasked with management, development, rehabilitation and maintenance of all public roads in Cities and Municipalities in Kenya except where those roads are National Roads. To enable him accomplish the above, he comes with vast experience in Management of Urban Roads, especially in Urban Roads Planning and Management, Innovations in Urban Road Management and Financing, Urban Mobility and Non-Motorized Transport Systems and Project Planning & Management. With the listed skills he will ensure that KURA continues to deliver a safe and efficient urban road network.
