REQUEST FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

 

CONSULTANCY SERVICES ON STRATEGIC ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT (SEA) OF SCHOOL INTEGRATION DEVICES.

 

ADDENDUM

 

The Constitution of Kenya 2010 provides that every child has a right to free and compulsory quality basic education. The Education Act (2013) was enacted to ensure that provision of education conforms to the provisions of the constitution. The Ministry is committed to competency based teaching and learning that promotes acquisition of 21st century skills and attitudes such as critical thinking, creativity, communication, collaboration, and innovation that prepares learners to competitively participate in a knowledge based economy. Integration of ICT across all levels of subjects and education is envisaged to enhance 21st century learning skills.

 

With the provision of ICT Solutions in Kenyan schools the Ministry is encouraging access by all learners in a school, and hence encouraging harmony, overall education quality improvement across all levels and sense of ownership by school communities. There are over 20,367 public primary schools with a total enrollment of 9.5 million learners..

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology is in the process of identifying a consultancy firm to provide consultancy services on Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) for school ICT integration devices.

The objective of the consultancy is to determine the impact of ICT Integration devices on the environment and to develop strategies with the participation of key stakeholders in the sustainable management of e-waste in Kenya.

 

The services will include:-

 

1. To provide guidelines that will enhance environmental protection from e-waste. disposal.

3. To raise public awareness on sustainable management of e-waste in Kenya.

 

Interested consulting firms must provide the following information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services.

 

i)   Evidence of registration and approval by relevant authorities.

ii)  Availability of qualified personnel (with appropriate skills).

iii)Availability of adequate resources including equipment and other resource materials necessary to carrying out the assignment.

iv)Statement of capability and experience of at least five (5) years indicating that they are qualified to perform the services by attaching brochures, description of similar assignment, experience in similar conditions.

The expression of interest is intended to shortlist six (6) firms with demonstrable technical and financial capabilities who will be invited to further bidding process. All documents must be presented in English language and in an orderly manner.

The Applicants shall be in plain sealed envelopes clearly marked “Expression of Interest for consultancy services on Strategic Environmental assessment (SEA) of School ICT, integration devices” and should be addressed to:-

The bids shall be opened immediately thereafter in the Ministry, of Education, Science and Technology, Main Boardroom at Jogoo House ‘B’ 10th Floor in presence of bidders or their representatives who choose to attend.
