EXPRESSION OF INTEREST
The National Museums of Kenya (NMK) invites Expressions of interest (EOI) from eligible firm to enter into Public Private Partnership for a Management lease.
We seek investments in the following places:
a) Institute of primate research – Location – Karen (Ololua nature trail) EOI/IPR/PPP/4/2013
We are seeking partnership with private investors and / or Donor organizations that can deliver the following:
1) A medium sized eco-lodge
2) A conference facility
3) An Education centre cum House cum restaurant
4) A showcase animal enclosure
Expression of interest must include as a minimum the following documentation/information:
1) Relevant experience, profile/background in providing services
2) Investors contact details (address, telephone, e-mail)
3) Qualifications and experience of investors professional staff proposed for the services
4) Details or proof of similar services undertaken
5) Evidence of investors expertise / capabilities to provide the services
6) List of major clients for whom similar services were provided with contact details
b) Developments envisaged at Hyrax hill pre-historic site – EOI/HH/PPP/4/2013
Call for expressions of interest and request for proposals
We seek investment at the Hyrax Hills Pre-historic site within the outskirts of Nakuru Town along Nakuru – Nairobi Road. The NMK holds valid title deed to the property which is gazzeted as protected land under the National Museums and Heritage Act.
NMK is keen to make major improvements to realize the full potential of this site that is located on a hill that give a panoramic view or Nakuru Town and its surroundings.
We seek partnership with private investors and / or donor organizations that can help deliver the following key additional amenities to Hyrax Hill pre-historic site.
1. A medium, sized eco-lodge, or tented camp built in conformity camp built in conformity to the highest standards of eco-tourism that would offer high and accommodation o local and foreign visitors.
2. A conference facility that would serve the needs of various academic, research and other institutions around Nakuru town and from all over the country.
NMK is prepared to engage with potential investors and /or donors in pursuit of these agenda and promises to expedite the evaluation of credible expressions of interested received. The organization is open to discuss various financing and benefit sharing models that can help achieve these project including long term leases, build – operate and transfer options, profits sharing arrangements etc.
Caution to all interested parties: the potential investor must have a very good understanding of the concept of conversation of protected heritage and the sustainable use of such resources. All developments must complement and not destroy in any significant way the environment. The NMK will turn down any proposal from parties who may have the financial resources to undertake the project, but lack a clear understanding of the concepts of sustainable utilization of this pristine environment, or do not present proposal that pass the eco criteria.
All potential investors must also be aware that statutory approvals will also have to be obtained from other government agencies such as NEMA and KFS, but only after NMK has given the initial approval as the land owners.
