ABMT refers to processes, materials, elements and tools that are compatible with the local socio-cultural, economic, physical and ecological environment of an area. Essentially, they should be affordable, cost-effective, innovative, safe, environmentally-friendly and sustainable.

Ministry of Land, Housing and Urban Development intends to compile a comprehensive inventory of ABMT so as to sensitize the public on their specifications, utilization, provider, cost, quality and construction period.

This will also assist the buiit-environment professionals to quickly adopt such materials and technologies in the designs hence contribute to the general acceptability of such materials and technologies.

The Ministry also intends to use the materials/technology to fast-track delivery of housing in order to reduce the housing deficit in the country.
