CIBEX East Africa has convened its second edition of its international trade show at Kenyatta International Convention Center (KICC), Nairobi. The conference running from 26-28 February 2015, aims at bringing together over 60 international manufactures and exporters to present their products and innovations. The theme of this year’s exhibition will be green energy and water projects as well as Public- Private Partnership (PPP) projects.

The number and scale of infrastructure and real estate projects are huge. Kenya is in the process of rolling out a mega project to build a 10,000km road in the next five years under the annuity financing programme. This project will require strong partnerships among industry players on machinery, financing and material processing.

“Kenya’s vision 2030 defines a great number of challenging and promising projects such as LAPSSET, Standard Gauge railway, Lamu Port, increase in energy supply, wind energy, biofuel projects among others. All these projects offer opportunities for collaboration, cooperation and increased business relationships,” remarked Andreas Peschke, Amb. German Embassy.

He added that Germany through its development bank, Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) bank group supports geothermal power stations at Olkaria. As part of an international consortium, we also support the Wind Energy Park at Lake Turkana which is set to transform Kenya’s economic structure.

Speaking at the convention, National Chairman, Kenya Federation of Master Builders, Moses Muihia said “Kenya and East African region is experiencing great economic growth potential. This second edition of CIBEX will provide a platform for the contractors, developers and other industry players to network and create partnerships that will enhance businesses and build capacity in the industry.

“National Construction Authority (NCA) as a regulatory firm develops and generates sustainable capacity in order for the industry to grow and deliver quality and safe projects for sustainable socio-economic development. The CIBEX conference will not only have opportunities to feature innovation products but also strive for excellence in the industry,” stated Executive Director of NCA, Arch Daniel Manduku.

At the exhibition, international speakers will present projects and future solutions on construction, infrastructure, environment and transportation in the East African region.

CIBEX East Africa is the perfect meeting point for all industry members in Kenya, the hub of the region. Kenya and surrounding countries plan to invest millions of US $ into their degenerated infrastructure. The construction industry booms and so the international attention for Kenya continues to grow.
