REQUEST FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

LEASE OF FERRY SERVICES FOR MTONGWE OPERATIONS

Kenya Ferry Services Limited (KFS) is a state corporation established under the Ministry of Transport with the core mandate of managing ferry services in Kenya and associated links in East Africa. The company offers ferry services at the Kilindini channel through two crossing points at Likoni and Mtongwe and has a fleet of 5 vessels. Services at the Likoni crossing are offered on a 24hours schedule ferrying both pedestrians and vehicles while the Mtongwe facility is meant for pedestrians only with scheduled crossing at 0400hrs to 1000-hours and 1600 hours to 2200 hours for the day and night shift respectively. However, services at the Mtongwe crossing have been suspended to allow for development of proper infrastructure which includes the landing facilities and ferry crafts.

KFS would like to acquire appropriate ferry crafts on lease basis for use in the Mtongwe facility.

KFS now invites eligible firms to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested firms must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.). Firms may associate to enhance their qualifications.

Interested bidders may obtain further information from the office of the Procurement and Supplies Manager during the normal working hours from 8.00 am to 5.00pm, Local Time.

Completed Expression of Interest with all supporting documents in plain sealed envelope marked “Expression of interest for the lease of ferry for Mtongwe” and Addressed to:       The Secretary,

Likoni, Mombasa.

Shall be deposited in the tender box located at the reception of KFS headquarters at Peleleza Likoni mainland south so as to be received on or before 1000 hours Thursday 10th April 2014.

Submissions will be opened immediately thereafter at the Kenya Ferry Services meeting room. Tenderers or their representatives who may wish to attend are invited.
