The Kenya Airports Authority is calling for expression of interest for consultancy services for the design of JKIA’s (Jomo Kenyatta International Airport) second runway.

The project is being funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB) with proceeds given as loan for the Outer Ring Road Improvement Project.

The Consultant shall furnish all engineering services complete set of drawings, bills of quantities and detailed specifications necessary to complete the project in accordance with the requirements of the contract documents. Consultants may constitute joint-ventures to enhance their chances of qualification.

The works will involve:-
*Survey and investigation, topographical surveys, soil investigation and Lab test.
*Pavements, drainage & auxiliary (security fence, marking) work.
*Airfield lighting system to include deign of Approach Lighting System (ALS) for Cat-II operation and Design of R/W, T/W light fitting, cabling, duct bank, CCR & Sub-station.
*NAVAID System to include design of the Instrument Landing System for CAT-II operation, Design of the Automatic Weather Observation System (AWOS) for CAT-II operation and Design of DVOR/DME, ASR/MSSR, MLAT, Telecommunication System.
*Fire fighting substations, fire hydrant and crash roads, so as to be compliant with ICAO recommendation with respect to response time.

“The Consultant shall also prepare ‘Construction’ tender documents for the 2nd runway and associated taxiways, AGL System and NAVIAD System, based on the approved detailed designs.” says AfDB in a statement.

Expressions of interest must be delivered to the address below by 19 April 2014 and mention “Consultancy services for JKIA second runway detail design”.
