JKIA expansion plans are likely to stop to allow investigations following the Ethics and Anti-Corruption commission calling for investigations in regard to the tendering process. They claim the multi-billion worth tender was won by two Chinese firms amidst claims that the board of directors was not involved in the recruitment of the contractors.
The project set to kick off in June this year would see to the construction a second runaway at the country’s main airport. The expansion will double the current size of JKIA from 25,662m² to 55,222m² with the new Terminal, Greenfield building.
The tender had been awarded to Anhui construction Engineering Group and China National Aero-Technology International Engineering Corporation, owned by the state.
