Today marks the end of the three day trade exhibition at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC).The event dubbed Kenya International Trade Exhibition is the 16th of its kind organized by the Expogroup.
The event was officially opened on Saturday by Mr. Charles Kerongo, Chief Trade Development Officer, Ministry of Trade on Behalf of the Minister for Trade. He pointed that the government through the ministry of Trade is working in ensuring a conducive environment for growth of trade and investment in the country.
“…the sector is subjected to necessary reforms geared towards adding value and minimizing distortions and sanctions…”, said Kerongo in his speech.
He highlighted some challenges facing trade in the country such as unfair competition and low uptake of new technology as the major ones and assured interested investors of their security and a good environment for healthy trade.
This year’s expo, KITE 2012, covered some of the largest growth categories within the multi sector industry in five distinct sub categories, namely: foodagro, medexpo, pppexpo & indusmach.The event attracts traders from all over the world making it one of the biggest exhibitions in the world.
Kenya was chosen as the venue for the event following its central location and it’s also one of the largest importers in Africa.
