While the ‘Air’ technology is speedily getting absorbed in the market, Apple Inc is not left out in this. Weighing one pound,iPad Air could arguably be said to be the lightest tablet you can get in the market at the moment and more amazingly, it is just 7.5 millimeters thin.
“Through a series of refinements, we were able to drop close to a quarter of the volume of the previous-generation iPad.” says Apple on their website.
Using a touch-rejection algorithm, iPad Air recognizes if your thumb is simply resting on the display while you’re holding it or if you’re intentionally interacting with the Multi-Touch screen.
Other than that, it boasts Apples most powerful chip ever created by them,A7. The A7 chip makes iPad Air up to 2x faster than the previous generation in both CPU and graphics performance.
“A7 brings 64-bit desktop-class architecture to iPad, which means iPad Air speaks the language of the most advanced computing designs available.” says Apple.
To aid the A7 in operations, the device has M7 which measures the motion of iPad Air by collecting data from the gyroscope, accelerometer, and compass. M7 offloads work from the A7 chip, gathering motion information from iPad Air so apps can adapt their functions.
The iPad has two antennas to support MIMO (multiple-input multiple-output) for up to twice the 802.11n Wi-Fi performance. It also features a 5-megapixel iSight camera and a FaceTime HD camera with an improved sensor. Dual microphones improve audio and suppress background noise for video recording, FaceTime calls, and voice recognition when using Siri.
The iPad’s has a battery life lasting up to 10 hours with a 9.7 inch display of up to 2048 by 1536 resolution.
While Apple boasts some of the best features on its products, competitors like Samsung are not without competition.
