In a venture valued at Sh55 billion, Kenya Power seeks to overhaul its electricity distribution infrastructure in the next three years. The venture is aimed at strengthening its distribution system to reduce frequent unplanned outages.
Following the revision of the distribution master plan, dedicated lines will be set up for large consumers to ensure they still have power even in instances where there are planned power interruptions.
According to Kenya Power Chief Executive, Ben Chumo, the existing distribution network that has been in place for years is worn out and requires a lot of strengthening.
