Datacentrix has partnered with global cybersecurity company Utimaco to expand access to hardware security modules (HSMs), cryptographic key management and data protection technologies for organisations across Africa.

The partnership comes as businesses and public institutions face growing pressure to protect sensitive information, secure digital transactions and comply with increasingly stringent data protection and cybersecurity requirements. Financial institutions, telecommunications operators, government agencies, healthcare providers, automotive companies and agricultural businesses are among the organisations facing these challenges as their operations become more digitally connected.

The collaboration combines Utimaco’s cryptographic security technologies with Datacentrix’s systems integration capabilities, technical expertise and customer network across the continent.

“As local organisations embrace cloud adoption, digital banking, connected vehicles, 5G networks, smart agriculture and e-government initiatives, the need to secure data at every stage has never been greater,” said Henry Minnaar, Business Unit Manager for Infrastructure Solutions and Agriculture Sector Lead at Datacentrix.

Utimaco’s portfolio includes hardware security modules, payment security systems, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), data protection and compliance solutions. These technologies enable organisations to safeguard cryptographic keys, protect electronic payments, support digital identity systems and strengthen security architectures.

Christiaan de Waal, Channel Manager for Africa, Iberia and France at Utimaco, said the partnership would combine the company’s expertise in cryptographic security with Datacentrix’s regional market reach and established customer relationships.

He added that the collaboration would help organisations establish the security foundations needed to support digital innovation, business growth and operational resilience.

The technologies have applications across several sectors. Banks and payment service providers can use cryptographic security systems to protect online banking platforms and payment transactions while supporting compliance with applicable standards. Telecommunications operators can strengthen the security of 5G networks and digital services, while government agencies can improve the protection of sensitive citizen information.

Agriculture is another potential application area, as connected machinery, Internet of Things (IoT) devices and precision farming systems increase the volume of operational and production data generated by farms. In the automotive sector, connected vehicles and software-defined mobility introduce additional requirements for protecting vehicle systems, communications and digital services.

Datacentrix will make Utimaco’s solutions available through its partner network and customer engagement channels. The offering will be supported by technical consulting, system deployment, local expertise and ongoing operational support.

The partnership reflects the growing importance of cryptographic infrastructure in securing digital services, particularly as organisations across Africa expand their use of cloud computing, connected systems and data-driven operations.
