Students in learning institutions are to benefit from the new teaching methods following the initiative by the Ministry of Education to connect learning institutions to the Fibre optic cable. The Minister of Education, Mutula Kilonzo said this during a meeting with the House Committee on Education.

“We can’t afford to be left out of changing technology”, said Mutula.

All model primary and secondary schools built two years ago through the Economic Stimulus Package (EPS) will be connected to the fibre network cable.

The minister pointed that the role of ICT in delivery of education at primary, secondary and university levels would be emphasized through amendments to the Education Act.He added that the country had been operating without a law on how universities operate and that there was need to synchronize this to ensure a sound legal infrastructure for education at all levels.
