INVITATION for BIDS
UPDATE

MULTINATIONAL: ARUSHA – HOLILI/TAVETA – VOI ROAD CORRIDOR DEVELOPMENT PROJECT PHASE I: UPGRADING OF MWATATE – TAVETA ROAD (A23)
TENDER NO: KeNHA/536/2012

1. The Government of the Republic of Kenya has applied for financing from the African Development Bank, in various currencies towards the cost of the Multinational: Arusha – Holili/Taveta – Voi Road Corridor Development Project: Upgrading of Mwatate – Taveta (A23) Road. It is intended that part of the proceeds of this loan, whose disbursement in respect of the signed contract will be subject to approval of financing by the Bank, will be applied to make eligible payments under the contract for the upgrading of the Mwatate – Taveta Road (A23).

2. The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) now invites sealed bids through International Competitive Bidding (ICB) from eligible bidders for the execution of upgrading of the Mwatate – Taveta Road (A23).

The works shall involve the upgrading to bitumen standards of the existing 90km gravel road from Mwatate to Taveta at the Kenya/Tanzania border including a 9Km Taveta bypass road. Interested bidders must have extensive experience in carrying out similar works. Time for completion of the works shall be 36 months.

Earthworks in expansive clay area
Improved Subgrade Material     5,000 m3
325,000 m3
Cement or Lime Treated Natural Material Sub-base     295,000 m3
Dense bitumen macadam base     120,000 m3
Asphalt Concrete Binder Course Surfacing     15,000 m3
Single seal bituminous surface treatment     1,200,000 m²
Concrete Pipe Culverts     5,475 m
Concrete for pipes and lined drains     6,000 m3
Concrete for Box Culverts and bridges     15,000 m3
Steel reinforcement     2,100 ton
Structural Steelwork for bridges     90 ton
Cement for stabilization     14,500 ton
Lime for stabilization     4,000 ton
Gabion boxes/matresses     21,500 m2
