Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO) has successfully energized the Sultan Hamud and Loitoktok substations, along with the Sultan Hamud-Loitoktok 132kV Transmission Line. This vital infrastructure development promises stable and reliable power to customers in Kajiado and Makueni counties, marking a significant step forward in enhancing electricity distribution in the region.

Dr. Eng. John Mativo, KETRACO’s Managing Director, highlighted the potential impact of this achievement. In a recent tweet, he stated, “Relatively good Wind and Solar potential around Loitoktok. The 132kV line makes it possible to harness this great renewable energy potential.” This underscores the role of the new line in supporting Kenya’s renewable energy goals, making the region more attractive for sustainable energy investments.

The project is part of KETRACO’s broader mission to improve the efficiency and reach of Kenya’s power grid, reinforcing the government’s commitment to providing reliable electricity to both urban and rural communities.
