Technology and human life cannot be separated; society has a cyclical co-dependence on technology. We use technology and depend on it in our daily lives. Humans use technology to travel, to communicate, to learn, to do business, and to live in comfort. However, technology has also caused us quite a few concerns

Its poor application has resulted in the devastation of the environment. It has also become a serious threat to our lives and society. The biggest challenge facing humanity is to determine the type of future we want to have and make certain changes in order to achieve that.

POSITIVE IMPACTS OF TECHNOLOGY ON SOCIETY

Technology Has Mechanized Agriculture

Modern technology allows a small number of people to grow vast quantities of food in a short period of time with less input which results. With the help of government subsidies, small and medium-sized farmers have managed to acquire ploughing, sowing, watering, and harvesting machines to increase their food production.

The use of technology in agriculture has also resulted in the manufacturing of genetic crops thatgrow fast and are resistant to many pests and diseases. Also, farmers have access to artificial fertilizers which add nutrients to the soil, helping crops to grow healthier and quicker.

Those that live in dry areas are now in a position to grow healthy crops through the use of advancedirrigation systemfrom distant water sources.

Technology Has Improved Transportation

Transportation is one of the hottest areas of technological development. Think of electric vehicles and self-driving cars and trucks.Society in general and the business sector, in particular, have benefited from the advances in transportation.

Transportation, like all other technologies, can be viewed as a system. Ituses vehicles, trains, airplanes, motorbikes, people, roads, energy, information, materials, finance and time. All these components mentioned work together to move and relocate people and goods.

Technology has helped in advancing all four types of transportation:

  1. Road Transportation

We are seeing road vehicles being reinvented in innovative ways. Self-driving cars are being deemed the care of the future. Roads and highways are being retrofitted with new devices to help aid drivers and keep them safe.

  1. Air Transportation

Air travel has never been safer thanks in part to technology. We are seeing lesser casualties related to air transport. Technology has also allowed planes to travel further while consuming less power.

  1. Transportation By Sea

Automation has also helped speed up how goods are transported by sea. We are seeing bigger and bigger cargo ships take to the sea carrying ever more goods and products across oceans.

  1. Space Transportation

Companies like SpaceX, Blue Origin, and Boeing are leading the march back into space with their economical and efficient fleet of rockets. We are seeing a dramatic decrease in the cost of sending payloads up to space because of the advances these companies are making.

Technology Has Improved Communication

A hundred years ago, the fastest way we could talk to someone around the world took several months. Fast forward to a couple of decades and the invention of the Telegram greatly shortened that lag time.

Now, we as a society experience the luxury of lightspeed communication. We can text, call, chat, video call practically anyone around the world at any time of the day. The rise of computers and mobile devices meant we are never too far away from our family and friends.

Advances in communication are not showing any signs of stopping. It’s safe to assume that a few years from now; we will have even more efficient ways to communicate with one another.

Technology Has Improved Education and Learning Process

And lastly, our trajectory as humans would be completely different if it weren’t for education. The passing of information from young to old has allowed us to build off of the achievements of others and reach greater heights.

Never has this been truer than in the education space. We are seeing gadgets and devices making their way into classrooms, helping children learn. Books are seen as outdated, replaced by tablets and computers all connected to the collective human knowledge known as the internet.

Conclusion

It is impossible to explore how each new technology can impact our lives and the future. There’s no question that it has already impacted the environment, people, and society as a whole. It is in how we use technology that determines if its impact is going to be positive or negative.
