Tender Name: Demolition of Existing Airport Arrivals Hall, Baggage Area and Multi-Storey Office Block at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport

1.1 The Kenya Airports Authority invites tenders from eligible candidates for the Demolition of the Existing Airport Arrivals Hall, Baggage Area and Multi-Storey Office Block at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport as a turnkey project.

1.2 Eligible candidates shall meet the following minimum requirements:

i) Shall be an entity legally incorporated in Kenya with ownership composed of Kenya Citizens.

ii) Experience under construction contracts in the role of contractor, subcontractor, or management contractor for at least the last 5 years prior to the application submission deadline, and with activity in at least nine (9) months in each year.

iii) Participation as contractor, management contractor or subcontractor, in at least 3 building contracts within the last 5 years, each with a value of at least Kshs 90Million that have been successfully and substantially completed and that are similar to the proposed works.

iv) Shall provide evidence of construction experience in demolition of multi-storey structures.

v) Shall have experience and provide evidence of the removal and disposal of hazardous and contaminated waste.

vi) Shall meet Minimum average annual construction turnover of Kshs 200million or equivalent in other currencies for the entity or for the lead firm. The turnover shall be calculated as total certified payments received for contracts in progress or completed, within the last FIVE (5) years

vii) Shall have capacity to have a cash flow amount of Kshs 50 million or equivalent in other currencies for the entity or for the lead firm.

viii) The Bidder must complete the Form of Environmental and Social Commitment Letter included in Section IV, Bidding Forms.

1.3 Eligible candidates may obtain further information and inspect the tender documents at Kenya Airports Authority Headquarters at the address given below: KAA Head Office, 2nd Floor, Engineering Department

1.4 A complete tender document may be obtained by any interested Tenderer on submission of a written application and upon payment of a non-refundable fee of Kshs. 1000.00 payable to Kenya Airports Authority. Candidates are advised that the fee does not include postage charges and are strongly advised to arrange for direct collection of the tender documents.

1.5 Completed tenders should be submitted accompanied by a tender security issued by a reputable bank or insurance company in the amount of Kshs 1,000,000.00 or equivalent in other currencies to be received on or before the date and time of closing of the tender. Failure to provide tender security will lead to disqualification of the tender.

1.6 Prices quoted shall be inclusive of duty and other taxes and shall remain valid for 120 days from the closing date of the tenders

1.7 Completed tender documents shall be submitted no later than 10am on 18th February 2014, in plain sealed envelopes clearly marked with the Tender number and name and marked “DO NOT OPEN BEFORE 10AM 18TH FEBRUARY 2014 and addressed as indicated in clause 3.17.2 of the Appendix to Instructions to Tenderers.
