Kenya Engineer, in collaboration with the International Zinc Association
(IZA) Africa Desk, has launched a Digital Zinc Library aimed at
educating structural and consulting engineers, as well as construction
professionals, on the critical role of zinc and galvanizing in corrosion
protection.
The newly launched knowledge base will serve as a hub for
information on zinc applications, with resources tailored to support
professionals to understand best practices for galvanizing and its
importance in extending the life of infrastructure. The library
features free downloadable content, making it an easily accessible tool for
engineers, contractors, and designers across Africa.
“Corrosion continues to be a major challenge in Africa’s infrastructure
development. By making this knowledge freely accessible, we aim to
bridge the information gap and empower professionals to adopt proven
solutions that enhance durability and sustainability,” said Simon Norton
Director of the International Zinc Association Africa Desk.
In addition to the digital library, Kenya Engineer and IZA Africa hope to roll out
technical seminars , bringing together industry experts to share insights, case studies, and practical approaches to using zinc in corrosion protection in engineering.
“Kenya Engineer is proud to partner with IZA to ensure that engineers
and construction professionals have access not only to technical
resources but also to practical training opportunities that will
directly benefit the industry,” said Samuel Eyinda the Managing Editor
at Kenya Engineer.
The collaboration underscores a joint commitment to advancing
engineering excellence, protecting infrastructure investments, and
promoting sustainable development through innovation in materials and
design.
