1. General Information
Kenya Tea Development Agency Holdings Limited, (KTDA) on behalf of its subsidiary, KTDA Power Company Limited and its Regional Power Companies 9rPCs) embarked on the implementation of a NUMBER OF Small hydropower Projects located within the tea growing zones of Kenya.
 
To achieve this objective the agency intends to prequalify eligible EPC contractors for the complete scope of works comprising;
 
a) Civil works
b) Hydro-mechanical works
c) Electrical works and
d) Electromechanical works
 
KTDA therefore invites eligible local and international firms or joint ventures (JV) to submit their technical proposal of prequalification improvising the above services. The intention of this invitation is to prepare a short list of suitable contracting firms/joint ventures, for the respective specialization, to whom financial tender documents will be issued.
 
 
2. Requirements
Applicants with their JV partners shall play of complete works as an EPC contract. The prequalified firms will either come as in the venture in association with KTDA prequalified electromechanical equipment (powerhouse equipments) suppliers or employ them as sub contractors during financial proposals submission. The joint ventures should not comprise more than five (5) firms.
 
Detailed requirements for prequalification are described in the RFP document.
 
Interested contractors may obtain detailed prequalification documents from the Procurement office located on First floor, KTDA Farmers Building Moi Avenue, Nairobi during office hours upon payment of the non-refundable registration fee as indicated above. The documents are also available via email upon request subject to confirmation of payment of the registration fee.

4. Submission of technical proposals for prequalification
Detailed proposals for prequalification documents marked with the tender name and reference should be addressed to:

Completed proposals documents should be deposited in the Tender Box at eh reception of Ground floor, KTDA farmers Building, Moi Avenue Nairobi, so as to be received not later than 09. 00 am on 16th October 2012. The proposals opening shall be on the same day at 10. 30 am East African Time.
 
KTDA reserves the right to accept or reject any or all the proposal without the obligation to assign ant reason for the decision.
 
Bidders should note that no Financial Proposals are required at this stage.
 
Note: The Contractors who submitted their expression of Interest (EOI) for construction of KTDA small hydropower projects as per the request for EOI that appeared in the “Daily Nation” of 23RD April 2012 need to participate in this EPC Contractor prequalification process for further consideration.
