UPGRADING TO BITUMEN STANDARD OF JUA KALI-SUGOI-ELGON ESTATE (E306) & JUNCTION E306-KOSACHEI-(A104) ATLAS & JUNCTION K0SACHEI-A104 (TURBO) ROADS (20KMS)

UASIN GISHU COUNTY

Kenya Rural Roads Authority on behalf of Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and in association with the County Government hereby invite bids from eligible construction Companies registered with the National Construction Authority in Category “NCA 1” for road works and category “NCA 5” for Bridge works for the project indicated.

1.    SCOPE OF WORKS

i)        Topsoil and site clearance

ii)       Earthworks including improved subgrade

iii)      Construction of Reinforced concrete bridge (Approximate span 45m)

iv)      Drainage works including pipe culverts

v)       Passage of traffic including diversions

vi)      Provision of a 150mm cement stabilized base and a 150mm cement stabilised subbase layers

vii)     Provision of 50mm Asphalt concrete type I (0/20) on carriageway and 35mm Asphalt concrete type I (0/14) on shoulders

viii)    Provision of a single seal of 10/14mm pre-coated chippings and 80/100 as binder

ix)      Road furniture including road marking reflectors and guardrails installation

x)       Defects Liability for 2 years

2.    QUALIFICATION FOR BIDDING

The requirements for Bidding are as follows:-

a)       Certified copy of proof of registration with National Construction Authority Category “NCA 1” for Road Works and “NCA 5” for Bridge Works.

b)       Thresholds specified in the Bid documents covering the following:-

(i)      Similar previous experience

(ii)     Equipment holding

(iii)    Professional and Technical Personnel

(iv)    Turnover and liquid assets supported- by audited accounts for the previous three (3) consecutive years.

(v)     Current workload in road works not exceeding three billion shillings in total contracted sums.

(vi)    Litigation history.

c)       VAT registration

d)       PIN registration

e)       Valid Tax compliance certificate

Procurement will be based on the post qualification method and the above details will be submitted with the priced bid.

Bid documents will be available from the KeRRA Offices, Blue shield Towers, 5th floor, from 28th  November, 2013 on payment of a non-refundable fee of Ksh. 1,000.00 (One thousand only) by banker’s cheque against an official receipt of the Authority.

A pre-bid site visit for the project shall be held on 10th December, 2013 at 10.00 a.m starting from the Regional Manager’s office, Eldoret. The Regional Manager, Uasin Gishu will be the contact person for the visit.

Completed Bid documents should be submitted to:-

Or deposited in the Tender Box on the 6th floor, Blue Shield Towers, Hospital Road upper Hill, so as to be received on or before 11.00 a.m 30th December, 2013.

Opening of the Bids will take place at 11.15 am on the same day in the conference room, Blue Shield Towers, 6″1 floor in the presence of Bidders/Representatives who wish to attend.
