Kenya currently has about 27,000 engineers — but only 4,000 are fully registered as professionals.
The Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) is now on a mission to raise that number to at least 10,000, in line with UNESCO’s recommendation of 1 engineer per 5,000 people.
“Only licensed engineers are legally allowed to submit technical documents, drawings, or calculations,” emphasized Eng. Orgai.
Key Initiatives
-
Graduate engineer workshops to prepare candidates for registration exams
-
Mentorship programs in collaboration with employers
-
CPD training to stay abreast of new technologies and safety standards
With national infrastructure projects expanding and regional opportunities increasing, Kenya needs more licensed engineers to meet the demand safely and professionally.
