In a bold move to advance engineering competence, the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) is planning the establishment of a Kenya School of Engineering.
Why This School?
“Our engineers are well-trained academically but often lack exposure to key areas like project management, compliance, and hands-on execution,” said Eng. Orgai.
The school, modeled after the Kenya School of Law, will:
-
Offer post-university practical training
-
Provide CPD (Continuous Professional Development) aligned with market needs
-
Focus on areas like energy systems, technical investigations, and contract management
A National Vision
The initiative aligns with EBK’s strategic goal to build local capacity and enhance Kenya’s global engineering competitiveness. It is expected to complement universities, not replace them, by preparing graduates for real-world challenges and professional registration.
