CONSULTANCY FOR TRAINING ON SUSTAINABLE WATER MANAGEMENT AND APPROPRIATE IRRIGATION FOR YATTA CANAL WATER PROJECT

The Government of the Republic of Kenya (Ministry of Water and Irrigation) having received a loan from the African Development Bank Group has on-lend part of the loan to the Tanathi Water Services Board (TAWSB) under the Small Towns and Rural Water and Sanitation Project. TAWSB intends to apply part of the proceeds of this loan to payments under the contract for “Consultancy for Training on Sustainable Water Management and Appropriate Irrigation for Yatta Canal Water Project”
The services will include but not limited to:
Undertake Training Needs Assessment for all water users;
Development of training modules, Tools and Training Program;
Develop water management and irrigation manuals;
Constitute and strengthen water users and other stakeholder into organized structures
Impart skills on accountability and sustainability on the use of the furrow
Training water users on appropriate irrigation technology with an objective of increased water efficiency;
Training private water users on the entrepreneurship and business opportunity identification, value addition and market linkages.
Train farmers and water users associations on the agricultural and environment best practices in relation to environmental impact assessment report and conservation of the upgraded infrastructure areas to improve on the water quality for domestic use;
Help the water users to develop water management and irrigation plans and key update data and personnel;
Facilitate development of canal water users operations and maintenance manuals;
Conduct a multi-stakeholder forum for sharing lessons learnt in the best practice in water management and irrigation and
Training and support water users’ representatives who include: technicians, other public officials and community representatives, to enable them to monitor water management and irrigation progress.
The Tanathi Water Services Board now invites eligible consultants to indicate their interest in providing these services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.). Consultants may constitute joint-ventures to enhance their chances of qualification.
Eligibility criteria, establishment of the short-list and the selection procedure shall be in accordance with the African Development Bank’s “Rules and Procedures for the use of Consultants” May 2008 Edition,
Revised July 2012, which is available on the Bank’s website at http://www.afdb.org.
Interested consultants may obtain further information at the address below during office hours 0800 to 1700 hours from Monday to Friday excluding lunch hour (1300 to 1400Hrs) and public holidays.
