After months of drilling works at the Ngamia-1 well, Tullow Oil has concluded drilling and is now moving to another well. The firm announced this after reaching a depth of 400 metres, short of the targeted 2,700 metres.

They said it was not possible to strike additional oil beyond the current depth of 2,340m.They are now checking the well to see the flow of oil. The findings are however not yet complete as they say it’s too early to ascertain if the total oil deposit in Ngamia-1 is enough to put the country in the elite list of global producers. Conclusive findings on commercial viability could however take close to two years.

The firm will now shift its drilling works to its other well, Twiga-1,31km from the Ngamia-1. Tullow who have five more prospects in the basin are now mobilizing a second rig to accelerate drilling in Paipai in Block 10A in Marsabit County.
