CONSTRUCTION OF A PROPOSED WORKSHOP & CLASS ROOMS COMPLEX PHASE TWO

Machakos university college invites interested contractors for the construction of a proposed workshop & classrooms complex Phase two. The contractor should appear in the current contractors’ Register (proof of registration required) class D and above and may obtain tender documents from the College upon payment of NON – REFUNDABLE FEE of Kshs. 5,000.00 in bankers cheque payable to Machakos University College between 8.00 am and 4.00 pm on normal working days. The bid bond for works will be Kenyan shillings six hundred thousand (Ksh.600,000.00).lnterested bidders should note that only those meeting the criteria indicated below as a minimum supported by relevant documents, will be considered for further evaluation.

i)          Proof of works of similar magnitude and complexity undertaken in the last five years.

ii)         The bid bond must be in form of bank guarantee from a reputable bank.

iii)        Adequate equipment and key personnel for specific types of works.

iv)        Proof of sound financial standing and adequate access to bank credit lines.

v)         Litigation history of the company.

vi)        Tax compliance certificate.

Further, tenders from the following tenderers shall be considered NON- RESPONSIVE and therefore subject to automatic disqualification.

i)         A tender from a tenderer whose on-going project(s) is/are behind schedule and without approved time extension

ii)        A tender from a tenderer who has been served with default notice on on-going project(s) or terminated in previous projects

iii)       A tender from a tenderer with on -going projects exceeding four in number, regardless of the total value of outstanding works.

iv)       A tender from a tenderer who is blacklisted by Public Procurement Oversight Authority (PPOA).

The bidder with the most responsive bid will be awarded to perform the following works under one contract:-

i)          Building and civil works

ii)         Electrical installation and data cabling

iii)        Mechanical /plumbing works.

iv)        Environmental impact assessment.

Tenders in plain sealed envelopes, marked tender Number MUC/T/2/W/C PH2/20l3-20l4,on the right side corner and bearing no indication of the tenderer should be addressed to:

and placed in the tender box at the main administration block reception or sent by post so as to reach the Principal not later than 22nd NOV. 2013 AT 10.00AM. Submitted bids will be opened publicly soon after the above stated, closing date and time in the presence of the tenderers or their representatives who choose to attend. Late bids shall not be considered. Prices quoted must remain valid for (90) days from the opening date of the tender.

The bid security should be valid for one hundred and twenty (120) days from the opening date. Machakos University College reserves the right to accept or reject any tender without giving reasons for the rejection and does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any tender.
