After period of successful explorations in the country, one unfortunate firm has announced closure of works on an offshore block following an unsuccessful adventure.

Apache Corp has relinquished its 50 percent stake in Kenya’s offshore L8 Block where it partnered with Britain’s Tullow Oil and Australia’s Pancontinental .

The block encountered non-commercial quantities of gas in the Mbawa-1 block. The American firm had recently committed to drill a follow-up wildcat at the Kipungu prospect next year in the block, where it is partnered by UK player Tullow Oil and Australia’s Pancontinental.
