INVITATION FOR PREQUALIFICATION:

The Government of Kenya / Kenya Electricity Generating Company. Limited (KenGen) has applied/received financing from Japan International Cooperation Agency (J1CA) and European Investment Bank (ElB) toward the cost of the Olkaria I Unit 6 Geothermal Power Project. It is intended that part of the proceeds of this Loan will be applied to eligible payments under the following contract Lots resulting from the bidding for which this prequalification is conducted.

Contract Lot I: Steamfield development Design, Supply and construction of the geothermal steamfield system for the Olkaria I Unit 6 resource area. This includes pipelines both for steam gathering, brine and condensate reinjection and steam separators.

Contract Lot II: Olkaria I Unit 6 Geothermal Power Plant. Engineering, procurement and construction of the Olkaria V power station, consisting of geothermal turbine/generator unit to provide gross output of at least 70 Mwe together with associated building, civil engineering works and interconnections facilities.

The Kenya Electricity Generation Company Ltd (KenGen) intends to prequalify contractors and/ or firms for the above contracts. It is expected that invitations for bid for both contract Lots will be made in Late May 2016.

Prequalification for Contract Lot I will be conducted through procedures in accordance with the applicable Guidelines for Procurement under ElB and Japanese ODA Loans Standard Procurement Document ‘Standard Prequalification Documents’ (version 1.1) published by JICA in October, 2012 for the prequalification of Bidders, and is open to all Applicants from eligible source countries. Incase of conflict, the ElB guide to procurement will prevails.

Prequalification for Contract Lot II will be conducted through procedures in accordance with the applicable Guidelines for Procurement under ElB and Japanese ODA Loans Standard Procurement Document’Standard Prequalification Documents’ (version 1.1) published by JICA in October, 2012 for the prequalification of Bidders, and is open to all Applicants from eligible source countries

Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from and inspect the prequalification ! documents at the Kenya Electricity Generating Company Ltd at the address below during office hours from 0800hrs to 1630hrs Monday to Friday. The prequalification documents can also be downloaded 1 from www.kengen.co.ke and www.suppliers.treasury.go.ke.

Applications for prequalification should be submitted in clearly marked and sealed envelopes and I delivered to the address below by 1000 hrs for Lot I and 1400hr for Lot II on 22nd April 2016, Kenyan time. Late applications will be rejected. .

Applications should be clearly marked: “Application to Prequalify for Olkaria I Unit 6 Geothermal Power Development and specifying the contract Lot the the Reference Number.
