The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST) in collaboration with the National Commission for Science and Technology (NACOSTI) will host the 4th annual National Science week at the University of Nairobi, Chancellor’s Court, from May 11th to 15th. The event – which comprises exhibition, robotics contest and a conference – is hosted by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology through the National Commission of science and Technology in partnership with the University of Nairobi. This year’s theme is “The Role of Science, Technology and Innovation in the Post-2015 Development Agenda”.
Participants will include policy makers, scholars, academicians, scientists, entrepreneurs and innovators from national and regional institutions such as universities, research institutions, technical, vocational and entrepreneurial training (TVET) institutions, international organisations and development partners.
The week-long event, which articulates the Government’s policies on research, science, technology and innovation (ST&I) aims to raise public awareness on these three fields. The event also aims to appraise the country’s achievements and breakthroughs in application of ST&I for socio-economic growth and development.
This year’s event has attracted over 100 exhibitors, displaying various items related to scientific innovations. The exhibitions aim to showcase, celebrate, recognise and reward outstanding Kenyan scientists and innovators. The forum also creates more opportunities for the innovative youths and empowers them on the important role played by science and technology.
During the forum keynote speeches, case studies, roundtable discussions and papers will be presented by individuals and participants from public and private institutions involved in training, research and policy.
