National Construction Authority (NCA) has organized a one-day contractor’s bench marking tour within Nairobi Region in partnership with key stakeholders in the industry. The tour set to take place on June 24,2016  will allow contractors visit project sites such as Standard Gauge Railway(Kenya Railways Corporation), Konza project(KETRACO), Construction of Kigori water treatment plant in Murang’a ( Athi Water Services Board) and Britam building and KOTO housing –EPS Technology project( Laxmanbhai). This is part of the Authority’s mandate to oversee the construction industry and co-ordinate its development.

The visit will aid contractors gain insight  into the best practices in various classes of work, be exposed and learn  more on aspects of project design, the site operations, management and supervision, safety, health and environmental measures, construction technology and materials.

For registration, a contractor is expected pay KES 3,000 to the NCA bank account, fill and download the seminar registration form from , scan and send a copy of the form dully filled and a copy of the bank transcript slip to before June 17, 2016.

Recently when the 2016/2017 national budget was read, government said it has scrapped off levy charged by NCA and NEMA to ease cost of doing business in Kenya. NCA imposed a levy of 0.5 per cent previously on the value of any commercial or residential building whose value exceeds KES.5 million. The levy was in line with provisions of Section 31 of the National Construction Authority Act that the charge should not exceed 0.5 per cent of the value of the building.
