CONSTRUCTION OF SIGIRI BRIDGE AND APPROACH ROADS ON ROAD R43 IN BUSIA COUNTY

INVITATION TO TENDER USING DESIGN-BUILD AND MAINTAIN METHOD

Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) hereby invites tenders, on behalf of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure from eligible consortia to Design Build and Maintain the above bridge and approximately 3km of approach roads to bitumen standard.

Location of the Project

Sigiri Bridge is located approximately 3km upstream of the mouth of River Nzoia where it discharges into Lake Victoria. Nzoia River channel can be approximately 100m wide at the proposed bridge site.

Scope of Works

A design of the bridge including Geotechnical Investigations and a materials report will be availed to the Consortia on request.

However, a reviewed design or completely new design will be considered on grounds of technical and financial effectiveness and especially speed of implementation since the bridge must be availed to users in the shortest period possible.

Qualification for Tendering

The requirements for bidding are as follows:

Certified copies of Certificate of Registration/Incorporation

Registration with the NCA in category NCA 2 and above for Contractors

The Consultant must be registered with the Engineer’s Board of Kenya

A copy of Consortia Joint Venture (JV) Agreement

For local JV/Consortium Partners, all partners individually to provide valid

VAT Registration/PIN

Tax Compliance Certificate

Registration by the relevant regulatory authority for foreign JVs equivalent of above shall be required.

Similar previous experience

Equipment holding

Professional and Technical Personnel

Turnover and liquid assets supported by Audited Accounts for the previous five (5) consecutive years

Current work load

Litigation history

Procurement shall be based on the post qualification method and the above details will be submitted with the priced bid. Bid Documents for Design-Build and Maintain will be available from the Procurement Manager, Kenya Rural Roads Authority offices on 5th floor, Blue Shield Towers, Hospital Road from 26th September, 2014 upon payment of a non-refundable fee of Kshs. 1,000 (One Thousand Only) by banker’s cheque against an official receipt of the Authority.

Bidders shall converge at the KeRRA Regional Office in Busia on 3rd October, 2014 at 10.00 am for the mandatory pretender site visit meeting.

Opening of the bids will take place beginning 11:15am at the conference room, Blue Shield Towers, 6th Floor, on the same day and in the presence of Tenderers Representatives who wish to attend.
