The Government of Kenya has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the second phase of Kenya Water Security and Climate Resilience Project (KWSCRP-1) and intends to apply part of the proceeds from this financing for payment of Consulting Services for Project Engineer, Western Kenya; Contract NO: MOWI/ KWSCRP-1/015/2016-2017

The Post -Reporting to the Head of Sub-Project Implementation Unit (SPIU) in Western Kenya, the Project Engineer is responsible for providing engineering input to the current KWSCRP portfolio and execution of the Program for Enhanced Water Security in the Nzoia River of KWSCRP-1 – comprising the Lower Nzoia Irrigation Project and the Flood Protection Structures and supervision and contract administration for the Advanced Works Contract.

The Ministry of Water and Irrigation (the client) now invites eligible individual consultants to express their interest (EOI) in providing these services. Interested consultants must provide their CVs and information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services. The desired consultant must have the following, skills and expertise:

Degree in civil/water engineering or its equivalent from recognized university or any other institution of higher learning;

Registration by the Engineers Board of Kenya and Corporate Membership of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya is a must

Has minimum 10 (ten) years of continuous relevant work experience in design and construction of a variety of water resources and/or irrigation and drainage and flood protection investment projects. A component on buildings and associated infrastructure within such projects would be an added advantage;

Possess a current Practicing License issued by the Engineers Board of Kenya Experience in project management /construction contract administration as a resident engineerwill be a distinct advantage;

A proficient working knowledge of MS office and other relevant engineering software will be a distinct advantage.

Fluency in English is essential and fluency in Kiswahili is desirable.

The duration for this position is expected to be one (1) year and will be subject to annual extensions based on acceptable performance.

The attention of interested Consultants is drawn to paragraph 1.9 of the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants [under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits & Grants] by World Bank Borrowers [January 2011] (“Consultant Guidelines”), setting forth the World Bank’s policy on conflict of interest.

Selection of an Individual Consultant will be in accordance with World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants [under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits & Grants] by World Bank Borrowers, January 2011 revised July 2014. (“Consultant Guidelines”). The selection criteria will be solely based on individual experience and qualifications.
