The Talek Power Company Limited is an Electricity Service Company (ESCO) whose mandate is to generate, distribute and supply electricity at Talek Center, Narok County. It has received the support of the German Development Cooperation in Kenya (GIZ and Welthungerhilfe) and the County Government of Narok for the construction of a 50 kW solar hybrid power generation plant, a power distribution network infrastructure as well as a prepaid metering system. The infrastructure is meant to deliver clean and reliable electricity to 300 households and businesses in Talek.


The Talek Power Company Limited is seeking to procure services from a qualified electricity company which shall sustainably operate and maintain the constructed infrastructure on a performance based compensation agreement. The operation and maintenance company’s main duties shall be to:


Manage the ESCO commercial cycles including customer care and customer satisfaction aspects;

Connect new customers to the mini-grid, including checking household connection certificates;

Operate and maintain the solar hybrid power plant as well as the power distribution lines.

The Talek Power Company Ltd is inviting eligible companies to indicate their interest in providing these sen/ices. Interested companies must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (e.g. brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.). Interested firms must submit the following information:


Experience in installation and maintenance of Solar Hybrid power generation plants;

Experience in the installation or maintenance of low voltage power distribution networks;

Experience in the installation of electricity meters;

Proof of ERC licensed electricians among the staff on solar and grid electricity works;

Company registration with.evidence of minimum 3 years in business;

Certified accounts with minimum of 5 million KES turnover per year in the last three years;

Staff description, CV’s and envisaged organization with employment evidence.

Companies may associate with other firms in the form of a joint venture or a sub-contracting to enhance their qualifications, but one firm can only belong to ONE EOI.
