Harrison Keter Elected IEK President as Engineers Choose New Council for 2026–2028

The Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK) has elected a new Council that will steer the professional body for the 2026–2028 term, with Eng. Harrison Keter emerging as the new President. The election ushers in a new leadership team at a time when the engineering profession is expected to play an even greater role in delivering Kenya’s infrastructure, energy, manufacturing and digital transformation agenda.

Joining Eng. Keter in the Institution’s top leadership are Eng. Howard A. M’mayi as 1st Vice President, Eng. John Robert O. Ogallo as 2nd Vice President, Eng. Grace M. Kagondu as Honorary Secretary and Eng. Ingaiza A. Murambi as Honorary Treasurer.

Also elected as Ordinary Members of Council are Eng. Yvonne Robert, Eng. Damaris K. Oyaro, Eng. Dennis D. Barongo, Eng. Patrick O. Otuoma, Eng. Nashon O. Tambo and Eng. James K. Nyabuto.

Eng. Keter assumes office after serving as IEK’s 1st Vice President. A mechanical engineer and Assistant Operations Manager (Geothermal) at Kenya Electricity Generating Company, he brings more than 17 years of experience in the energy sector, with expertise spanning power generation, renewable energy, project management and plant operations.

The newly elected Council takes office at a pivotal moment for Kenya’s engineering profession, with growing emphasis on strengthening local engineering capacity, enhancing professional standards and supporting the country’s ambitious infrastructure and industrial development programmes. Earlier this year, IEK reiterated its commitment to promoting engineering excellence, innovation and greater participation of Kenyan engineers in national development projects.
