The 3rd edition of the International Off-Grid Renewable Energy Conference and Exhibition (IOREC) will take place at the Safari Park hotel on 30th September and 1st October 2016. The conference has been organized by IRENA (International Renewable Energy Agency) in partnership with the Ministry of Energy & Petroleum and the Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE).
IOREC is the global platform for sharing experience and best practices about design and implementation of enabling policies, tailored financing schemes, innovative business models and technology applications for stand-alone and mini-grid systems.
The first edition of IOREC was organized in Accra, Ghana in 2012 and the second in Manila, Philippines, in 2014. The conference convenes diverse stakeholders from the sector, gathers perspectives on key deployment barriers and facilitates dialogue to highlight solutions to accelerate rural electrification through off-grid renewable energy systems.
This year’s conference will have an exhibition organized by ARE to give the private sector an opportunity to showcase products and projects, and offer participants ample networking occasions.
Along with the IOREC conference, the SEED Africa Symposium will take place on September 28-29, 2016. The annual international forum aims at sharing knowledge and experience, establish partnerships and developing solutions to stimulate the growth of social and eco-entrepreneurship across the African continent.
With this year’s topic ‘From Innovation to Imitation’, it will bring together around 500 enterprises, researchers, practitioners, investors, policy makers and representatives of the civil society to discuss how we could collaboratively utilize the replication of business models for successfully contributing to green growth and sustainable development in Africa.
