According to Joe Schwarz, Company’s General Manager, external affairs and development said,” 25,000 tonnes of mineral from Maumba mines is expected to leave the country by this weekend.”
“The second shipment has already been cleared and export permit issued last week,” he added.
This second shipment has portrayed a clear message to the global market that Kenya is up-and-coming to be the largest producer of the mineral.
However, the proposed county finance bill stating that every tonne of mineral be taxed at Sh 5,000 has not been approved by Governor Salim Mvurya.
Last month, the company made a shipment of first ever 25, 0000 tonnes of ilmenite worth 387 million to China.
