The Hands on the Future National TVET Conference & Kenya Skills Show, convened by the Permanent Working Group (PWG) on TVET in Kenya in conjunction with the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA), will be held on 26-27-28 January 2017 at KICC in Nairobi.
The two-pronged event will focus on building upon the successes of the technical and vocational education and training (TVET) sector in Kenya, and strengthening collaboration across the ecosystem to more substantially contribute to addressing youth unemployment and the skills gap present in many sectors in Kenya.
The primary goal of the Kenya Skills Show is to inspire youth to enthusiastically pursue technical, vocational and entrepreneurship and /or life skills training opportunities in order to get ahead in life and become more productive, responsible citizens.
The conference intents to promote policy debate and dialogue on various strategic thematic areas, create synergies and foster collaborations among TVET stakeholders in Kenya, allow stakeholders from public and private sector as well as private initiatives and development partners to showcase best practices, products, services and innovations and accelerate resource mobilization for implementation of TVET reforms.
Some of the themes to be discussed include policy implementation for successful TVET, filling the skills gaps, a sustainable future for the TVET sector and making TVET relevant to the youth.
PWG was formed in 2014 after the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized a forum. It comprises of nearly 100 public and private stakeholders involved in the TVET ecosystem in Kenya.
