THE 220KV NAIROBI RING ELECTRICITY TRANSMISSION SYSTEM

1. This Invitation for Bids follows the General Procurement Notice (GPN) for this project that appeared in UNDB online and on the French Development Agency’s website in July 2015.
2. The Government of Kenya has received Financing from the French Development Agency towards the cost of the 220kV ring around Nairobi Metropolitan Area Project. It is intended that part of the proceeds of this loan will be applied to eligible payments under the contract for the COMPLETION of the following substations: 220kV Isinya substation, 220/66 kVAthi River substation, 220/66 kV Kimuka substation and 220/66 kV Komarock substation.
3. The Kenya Electricity Transmission Co. Ltd. (KETRACO) now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the execution of the works described below:
The major works to be carried out by the Contractor at the substations shall comprise of but not be limited to the following: Completion of design, construction and commissioning of works stopped in progress of a previous contractor at the 220/ 66kV substation at Athi River, Kimuka & Komarock and 220kV substation at Isinya.This will include limited procurement as most of the equipment to be utilized have already been supplied.
• Diversion of the Line 2 Suswa to Isinya 400kV double circuit feeders into Kimuka Substation.
4. Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from and inspect the bidding documents at the office of KETRACO at the address given below:

5. complete set of bidding documents may be purchased by interested bidders on the submission of a written application to the address above and upon payment of a nonrefundable fee of KES 1,000.
6. The provisions in the Instructions to Bidders and in the General Conditions of Contract are the provisions of the French Development Agency Standard Bidding Document Procurement of Plant, Design, Supply and Installation Services: Single Stage Bidding (without prequalification).
