Scores have been trapped after a five-storey building under construction collapsed in Roysambu.
The residential building came down at around 10:30am. Two have been confirmed dead, it is feared that most of those who are still trapped are construction workers. So far, five have been rescued with severe injuries and have been taken to Uhai Neema Hospital in Kasarani. Kenya Red Cross, Nairobi Fire Brigade and Kasarani Police officers are at the scene leading rescue efforts. The owner of the building is being searched for.
Peter Muriithi, MCA for Roysambu has stated that the building, about to complete the 5th floor, only had approval for 3 floors.
This is one of the multiple of buildings that have collapsed in the last few months due to bad construction.
