This invitation for bids follows the General Procurement Notice for this project that appeared online in UN Development Business on 26th March 2012.
The government of Kenya has received financing from the International Development Association (IDA) towards the cost of the Water and sanitation Service Improvement Association (IDA) towards the cost of the Kenya Water and Sanitation Service Improvement Project Additional Financing (WaSIIP AF). And it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this Credit towards payments under the contract for Development of 4 Deep and 4 shallower Exploratory Wells and Ruiru and Kikuyu. The Athi Water Services Board, a parastatal under the Ministry of Water an Irrigation now invites sealed bids form eligible bidders for Development of 4 Deep and 4 Shallower Wells at Ruiru & Kiunyu.
The scope of works consists of but not limited to:
• Drilling of four deep (apr. 600m depth) exploratory boreholes hole diameter ranging from 216mm, at Ruiru and Kikuyu Kiunyu Well field site.
• Drilling of four shallow (approx. 250m depth) exploratory boreholes hoe diameter ranging form 152 mm to 216 mm at Ruiru ad Kikuyu well field site
• Installation of borehole steel casings of diameter ranging from 152mm to 508mm
• Carrying out geological logging and
• Test pumping of the eight boreholes
The works are located about 25km and 80 km form Nairobi City Centre to Ruiru and Kiunyu well fields respectively
The constructions period is three (3) months
Qualifications requirements include:
a) Experience as prime contractor in the construction of at least now works contracts of a nature and complexity equivalent to the works over the last 5 years (to comply with this requirement, works cited should be at least 70 percent complete);
b) Site Agent (must be a registered Geological or Hydro-Geologist, with at least 10 years relevant experience including no less than 5 years as site Agent handling works of similar nature and complexity) and;
c) Availability of a cash – flow of Kshs. 60 million or equivalent amount in freely convertible currency.
Bidding will be conducted through the National Competitive Bidding procedures (NCB) as specified in the World Banks Guidelines : Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, Revised January 2011, and is open to eligible bidders as defined in the guidelines
Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information for and inspect the bidding documents from the Athi Water Services Board, at the address below during office hours from 0800 hours to 1700 hours local time from Monday to Friday, except during lunch hour (1300 hours to 1400 hours) during weekends and public holidays.
A completed set of bidding documents in English may be purchased by interested bidders on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a non refundable fee of Kshs. 5, 000 (or equivalent in a freely convertible currency. The method o payment will be cash or bankers cheque.. The Bidding documents will be collected from the address below upon production of a purchase receipt.
All bids must be accompanied by a bid security of KSHS. 4, 000, 000 or an equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency and be delivered tot eh address below by 1200 hours East African time on 24th October 2012. They will be opened immediately thereafter in the presence of bidders representatives who choose to attend at the address below. Late bids will be rejected.
