The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has announced major works along Links Road near Quick Mart in Mombasa, aimed at ending the perennial flooding that has long disrupted motorists and residents in the area.
The project includes the installation of multiple culverts and several vertical drains to improve stormwater management. In addition, the vertical alignment of the road has been redesigned, ensuring that rainwater will no longer pool on the carriageway during the rainy seasons.
According to KURA, the intervention will not only improve safety and mobility but also enhance the durability of the road. Local traders and commuters have often cited flooding along the stretch as a major source of disruption.
The agency noted that the upgrades are part of its ongoing efforts to deliver safer, smarter, and more resilient urban transport infrastructure across the country.
