TENDER NOTICE
Kenya Rural Roads Authority herby invites bids from eligible construction companies in behalf of the Ministry of Roads for the Upgrading to Bitumen Standards of access to Wiru Tea Factory Road (D474) to be funded the Development Vote as detailed here below.
Scope of Works
The scope of work included but is not limited to:
i) Site clearance and top soil removal
ii) Earthworks and sub grade preparation
iii)Provision of cement improved sub base extended to shoulders
iv) Provision of Graded Crushed Stone (GCS) base extended to shoulders
v) Provision of 40mm Asphalt concrete (AC) wearing course
vi) Provision of a single seal surface dressing on carriageway of 10/14mm chippings
vii)Construction of pipe culverts, and other ancillary drainage works
viii) Installation of road furniture
ix) Maintenance of passage f traffic through and around the works
x) Maintenance of works during construction. The defects liability period shall be 24 months
Qualifications for tendering
The requirements for tendering are as follows:
a) Registration with Ministry of Roads in category “B” and above
b) Threshold specified in the tender document covering the flowing:
i) Similar previous experience
ii) Equipment holding
iii) Professional and technical personnel
iv) Turnover and liquid assets supported by Audited Accounts for the previous three (3) consecutive years
v) Current workload
vi) Litigation history
vii) VAT Registration
viii)PIN registration
ix) Valid Tax Compliance Certificate
Procurement shall be based on the post qualification method and the above details will be submitted with the
priced tender.
Tender documents will be available from KeRRA offices, Blue Shield Towers, 6th floor From Monday 20th August 2012 upon payment of a non refundable fee of Kshs. 5, 000 (Five thousand only) by bankers cheques, against an official receipt of the Authority.
A pre tender site visit to the project will be held on Thursday 6th September 2012 at 10.00 am starting at Chogoria (Junction of Road D474 with B6, Embu – Meru Road). Completed tender documents should be submitted to:-

Opening of the bids will take place at 11. 15 am on the same day at the conference Room Blue Shield Towers, 6th floor in the presence of Tenderers representatives who wish to attend.
