Renewable energy leaders and experts will converge to discuss the current green energy policy framework and goals in East Africa to create a vision for the future of the renewable energy space at Africa Renewable Energy Leaders’ Summit, taking place from 4 – 5 April in Nairobi, Kenya.

Minister led delegations from Ethiopia, Burundi, South Sudan, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda as well as the host country, Kenya have confirmed attendance. Government and industry leaders will present the latest projects and provide an invaluable insight into the major opportunities in the East African region and will be led by:

•    Hon. Charles Keter, MGH, Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Energy and Petroleum, Kenya
•    Hon. Eng. Irene Nafuna Maloni, Minister of Energy & Minerals, Republic of Uganda
•    Prof. Kevin Chika Urama, Senior Advisor to the President on Inclusive and Green Growth – Strategy, Policy Development & Implementation, African Development Bank, Ivory Coast
•    Eng. Abel Rotich, Geothermal Development Director, Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KENGEN), Kenya
•    Daniel Klinck, Chief Executive Officer, East Africa Power; Chief Operating Officer, DC Hydropower, Rwanda

The key topics of discussion include the establishment of financial programmes to support large-scale green energy projects, as well as other renewable energy technologies and prospects. Some of the highlights include:

•    Project Finance Panel: Attracting capital to develop renewable energy projects
